The Advertising of food products has broken more hearts than anything else. The way they show a burger or a dish in ad turns out be way way different when you actually visit the outlet. How many times has one been disappointed, the latest entry to this infamous list of forgery as I like to call it is the coffee giant ” Starbucks”. How many of us have paid out those big bucks for a cup of latte in the morning and have ended up feeling cheated with the quantity that the fancy cup has it looks big but don’t know where the coffee goes its some kind of sorcery. It doesn’t end with coffee look at the chips packet it has more air than the chips. Most of us have taken it for granted that things work this way and we have to live with it But not one individual.
A Chicago resident Stacy Pincus after much frustration of being repeatedly robbed has filed the proposed class action suit on Wednesday in Illinois, according to court documents against Starbucks. His allegations are simple that the brand “unlawfully under-fills iced coffee, iced tea, and iced-blended specialty drinks crafted by Starbucks employees.” It alleges the drinks are under-filled “compared to how they are advertised, misleading and injuring consumers in the process.” One gets a sense of Déjà vu and one wants to shout out that I too have been a victim. The resident has further alleged that Starbucks is also trying to establish a monopoly in the beverage market by buying out small vendors and thus not only cheating people by not only under-filing but also charging a premium price as there is lack of competition.
Starbucks on its part has played safe and as per its spokesperson they are aware of the plaintiff’s claims, which we fully believe to be without merit, he went on to add that. “Our customers understand and expect that ice is an essential component of any ‘iced’ beverage. If a customer is not satisfied with their beverage preparation, we will gladly remake it.”
One can only that such cases will become more prominent based on the verdict of this case and will force the other companies to start taking necessary steps towards customer satisfaction and happiness than deceive him through false advertising.
