South West tragedy: Up to seven dead in overnight horror

Seven people - including four children and three adults - have been found dead at a home in Margaret River in Western Australia's South West.

The president of the Shire of Augusta-Margaret River said the tragic deaths at a property south-west of Perth have impacted upon everyone in the community.

He described the discovery as a "horrific tragedy".

The ages of the children and adults have not been revealed.

In what could be one of the worst cases of mass killings in the country's recent history, the bodies of four children and three adults were found at or near a property in Osmington, near the southwestern tip of Australia this morning. They will be supported by other specialist police units. Police located seven persons deceased.

"It's not appropriate for me to speculate on any further matters", he said.
