'Kevin Can Wait' stars say goodbye as sitcom canceled after 2 seasons

Saying goodbye. Kevin James and Leah Remini are filled with gratitude after CBS announced on Saturday, May 12, that Kevin Can Wait is canceled after two seasons.

'I want to say thank you to all the fans for the love and support.

"I wish to say thanks to the superb forged, crew, producers, and the writers of @kevincanwaitcbs". I wouldn't trade this experience for anything in the world... Okay, perhaps a season 3. You accepted me with open arms. "For me to get to work with @officialkevinjamesagain day in and day out was a Godsend", she captioned a photo of herself and her costar. "I used to be so blessed to have the ability to work day by day with probably the most superb forged, crew, writers and help staff!"

In an interview with the New York Daily News last October, James said, "I get that people are like, 'Whoa, why would you do this?' But it really felt like a thing like this was needed for the show to drive forward". But after season 1, James' on-screen wife, played by Erin Hayes, was killed off-screen. Vanessa has left the force to launch her own private security firm, and she makes Kevin an offer he can't refuse - to be her new business partner. "Now off to new and exciting times!" The move was meant so that they could replace her with Kevin James's former King of Queens co-star Leah Remini, but fans did not take it well and ratings never recovered. James, Jeff Sussman, Rob Long, Rock Reuben, Andy Fickman and Steve Mosko executive produce. So thank you all. "Thus happy with what we all did and also this talented and remarkable solid, Writers & Crew. Additionally a particular due to the superb individuals of Lengthy Island who welcomed us with open hearts!"

Fueled by the popularity of its star Kevin James and boosted by The Bing Bang Theory as a lead, Kevin Can Wait got off to a blazing start in fall 2016 and went on to become a sturdy Monday 8 PM anchor.

James, 53, also took to the social media site to share his graciousness despite the disappointing end to the show, which had a strong debut two years ago, but nosedived in the ratings over the past year.
