The eight-year-old daughter who survived did not have explosives strapped to her, but was thrown three metres into the air by the blast and was receiving intensive care in hospital, police said. Children have no choice.

All told, 26 people died in the two days of attacks including a total of 13 militants and their children.

"All of those materials are very unsafe since they can easily trigger an explosion at random due to their sensitivity", he told journalists in a press conference Surabaya on Monday. Witnesses at Diponegoro said they saw a woman carrying two bags who forced her way inside the church when a police tried to block her.

Two men, apparently civilians, were walking into the area just meters (yards) from the motorcycles at the moment of the explosion, which a split second later was followed by a second possible blast.

At least 26 people were killed and dozens more injured in the multiple suicide bombings, the deadliest terrorist strike in Indonesia in more than a decade.

Islamic State has said it was behind the bombings, which were the worst since a series of attacks on churches on Christmas Eve in 2000 killed 15 people and wounded almost 100.

That attack was carried out by the Jemaah Islamiah (JI) militant network and prompted a sustained crackdown on militants.

It came after another family carried out bomb attacks on three churches on Sunday. All six members of the family were killed.

"Give us time to finish the search and defuse and destroy the bombs", head of the Surabaya metropolitan police Sr.

The IS statement claiming responsibility for the attacks didn't mention anything about families or children taking part and said there were only three attackers. Meanwhile, police were also able to recover a few more homemade bombs around the church's vicinity, which the bomb squad properly detonated and disposed of.

Karnavian added that the bombings may have also been motivated by the arrest of JAD leaders, including jailed radical Aman Abdurrahman, and were linked to a deadly prison riot staged by Islamist prisoners at a high-security jail near Jakarta last week.

Police said they killed four suspected members of JAD in Cianjur, West Java Province, and arrested two others, the BBC reported.

One the same day, the family's two teenage sons, 16 and 18, drove their motorcycles to the Santa Maria Catholic Church, where they carried out similar attacks.

Bethesda officially announces Rage 2, gameplay reveal tomorrow
Somewhat surprisingly the game is referred to simply as Rage 2 , despite the original never having been that successful or famous. We're not sure what else the Fallout publisher has up its sleeve, but it has been a while since a brand new Elder Scrolls game...
