Hart, Wilshere left out of England's World Cup squad

Hart, Wilshere left out of England's World Cup squad

The Three Lions head to Russian Federation next month hoping to improve on a dismal 2014 campaign in Brazil while also trying to eradicate an even worse Euro 2016 exit from the memory.

The former Three Lions number one is understood to have been told by Gareth Southgate on Monday that he will not be part of the 23-man party heading to Russian Federation.

Southgate called Wilshere up to his squad for the recent friendlies against the Netherlands and Italy, but injury forced him to pull out.

"If I was Gareth Southagte I would sell this on youngsters", he said at the BBC's launch of their coverage of this summer's tournament.

Few Surprises in Gareth Southgate's England World Cup Squad
England leave Hart, Wilshere out

"Just write it off, we haven't realistically got a chance, you never know what might happen in tournament football, but we haven't now enough world-class players". On being told that he would not be going to the World Cup, Hart reacted in typically dignified fashion. "I would play lots of these talented young players".

Jack Wilshere's hope of representing England in the World Cup has hit the rock as England manager, Gareth Southgate hinted that the Arsenal midfielder will not be included in England's World Cup squad.

Hart, 31, has struggled for form and game-time on loan at West Ham, and ex-England captain Rio Ferdinand yesterday said it was the right decision to leave him out as it would give a younger keeper the chance to experience a World Cup.
