Mother of tortured kids to face upgraded charges

There was so much debris that some areas of the home were unaccessible, according to Fairfield Police.

A California mother of 10 children who officials say suffered long-term abuse returned to court to face new charges of felony child abuse. "It went beyond somebody simply not cleaning the house for the day".

Upon entering Rogers's residence, they discovered that nine of her other children, ranging in age from 4 months to 11 years, were living in "unsafe and unsanitary" squalor.

It's unclear whether any California government agencies had an opportunity to intervene in the years authorities claim 10 children suffered "horrific" abuse inside their suburban home.

Solano County court records show that Jonathan Allen was charged with four felonies including corporal injury, assault with a firearm and criminal threats.

Jonathan Allen and Ina Rogers were arrested on Monday in Fairfield, California.

On Wednesday, Judge William J. Pendergast set bail at $495,000 for Rogers, saying she "may not be a danger to the public at large, but these charges make clear she is a danger to the children".

The allegations were part of prosecutors' attempt to have the children's mother Ina Rogers' bail increased after she was charged with nine counts of felony child abuse on Wednesday.

Both parents have denied the allegations. Prosecutors said at a Monday press conference they were in the process of determining whether additional charges would be filed against Rogers.

She told ABC: "I strive, I thrive on being a good parent to my children". "My husband has a lot of tattoos, he looks like a scary individual, and that's why people are so quick to judge him". "I am an fantastic mother".

The 10 children shared a single bedroom, Rogers told reporters, while three other rooms served as the master bedroom, playroom and a meditation room.

One person killed in explosion at California medical facility
Authorities initially indicated a auto had crashed into the building, but Bommarito said later that did not appear to be the case. Orange County sheriff's experts along with FBI, the ATF and other federal agencies are investigating the cause of the blast.

"They searched them head to toe. I am not a torturer and am not a monster". The children were removed from their home on March 31.

By way of explanation, Rogers told police that she had torn the house apart looking for the 12-year-old, the AP reported.

"On a continuous basis the children were getting punched, strangled, bitten, shot with weapons such as crossbows and bb guns, hit with weapons such as sticks and bats, subjected to "waterboarding" and having scalding water poured on them", Solano County Deputy District Attorney Veronica Juarez wrote in the bail request. The earliest charge dates to 2014, Henry said. None of the children required medical care.

Stories about the alleged abuse came out gradually in interviews with the children over the past six weeks and eight of the children told professionals about incidents dating back several years, authorities said.

Based on that information, an arrest warrant was issued for the father.

Prosecutors said Tuesday they also would file nine counts of felony child abuse against Rogers at a court hearing Wednesday. His bail was set at $5.25 million, and he is due back in court May 24, according to court records.

An investigation "revealed an extended and steady historical past of extreme bodily and emotional abuse of the kids", authorities stated.

"I want the police to know that I am not an animal", Allen said. "I have gotten loud before but I never spanked my children". Police said their 10 children were tortured and sometimes for sadistic purposes.
