Star Wars Celebration 2019 set for Chicago

Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy has confirmed to Premiere France that the studio is planning a spinoff film centering on the "Star Wars" character originated by Billy Dee Williams in 1980's "The Empire Strikes Back" and played by Donald Glover in "Solo: A Star Wars Story", which releases May 25.

A flawed yet fun and fast-paced space adventure, Solo: A Star Wars Story should satisfy newcomers to the saga as well as longtime fans who check their expectations at the theater door.

While reports had swirled that Ehrenreich, who takes on the role made famous by Harrison Ford, was struggling with the role, most reviewers gave him a thumbs up. "I'm a fan first and foremost before I'm an actor in this", he said.

"And there's another meet-cute, come to think of it: the love that flowers between man and machine, between the reckless pilot and the sleekly iconic Millennium Falcon".

Honestly, it may have been better to START there instead of 'Solo'. While that would make a hell of a movie, it's a story that's already been told, so it's not likely to head to the big screen.

Now, you might be thinking that 71% isn't a awful score, but if you look at how Star Wars: The Last Jedi performed with the audience, it could mean the movie is actually really, really bad. We're so in love with that version of the character, it's nearly hard to accept anyone in the role, even in Alden Ehrenreich.

While we're talking about Clarke, Rebecca Darling had some high praise for her performance in Solo. Check out the convention announcement - as well as a behind-the-scenes look at the red carpet from the Solo: A Star Wars Story premiere - from The Star Wars Show in the player below!

Glover, meanwhile, has been soaking up his time in the Star Wars sun, recently telling The Hollywood Reporter that joining the film series feels like "getting to be part of the Bible".
