Muguruza: 'I was thinking about not giving a single point to Sharapova'

Sharapova had 27 unforced errors and had her serve broken six times.

This time, she made no mistake.

While Stephens will bid for a second major title in her second Grand Slam final, Halep is chasing her first major victory after two defeats in the French Open final in 2014 and 2017 plus a defeat to Caroline Wozniacki in the Australian Open final in January.

"If I make it all, it's very well".

I don't give it too much attention. "I obviously lost to Sloane at the US Open, but, you know, I feel like on clay it's a little bit of a different match-up".

It was just her 5th loss in 25 Grand Slam quarter-finals.

It is the first time that two American women have reached the last four at Roland Garros since 2002, when Serena Williams beat sister Venus in the final, after a semi-final win over Jennifer Capriati. Muguruza has won seven of her last nine matches on clay court.

She is one of two semi-finalists - alongside Garbine Muguruza - who are yet to drop a set this fortnight in Paris.

Before he left, he had dual roles as head of global markets in Asia Pacific, and chief country officer for Australia. ANZ and the senior executives are alleged to have been knowingly concerned in some or all of the alleged conduct.

Stephens continued to dominate and broke in the first and seventh games of the second set to put herself in a position to serve for the match. But the Romanian clawed her way back into the contest, winning three straight games as both players struggled to hold on to their serves in a monster opening set that swung one way and then the next.

She will face the victor of the all-American showdown between Sloane Stephens and Madison Keys in her fourth Grand Slam final.

Now third in the WTA leaderboard behind Halep and Caroline Wozniacki, Muguruza will rise above them both to sit atop of the rankings with a win on Thursday. She received a walkover in the previous round as the American withdrew injured. The German raced into a 3-0 lead with an early double break.

Muguruza will face Simona Halep or Angelique Kerber in the semifinals.

French Open 2018 nearly presented the momentous occasion where the bitter rivals - Serena Williams and Maria Sharapova - former World Number ones, were about to clash in the 4th round.

The 11th-seeded Schwartzman has never made it to the final four at any Grand Slam tournament. But play was stopped with Nadal at 5-3, 30-15.

Sharapova and Williams were supposed to meet in the fourth round of the French Open on Monday, but Williams had to withdraw from the pair's 22nd meeting with a last-minute injury.
