Samantha Bee is back, both angry and apologetic

"The problem is, a lot of women have heard that word at the worst time in their lives, and don't want it reclaimed". They proceeded to interrupt her during the show's first segment. "I was like, 'Look, man, one white woman calling another white woman a word is not the same as a white person calling a black person an ape. I want this show to be challenging, and I want it to be honest, but I never intended it to hurt anyone".

Immediately addressing the issue at the opening of her show, Bee said she hated to "contribute to the nightmare of 24-hour news cycles that we're all white-knuckling through".

After drawing a laugh at the mention of the Texas senator, Bee said that many men also were offended by her language.

Last week's profane insult sparked outrage from many, leading sponsors like AutoTrader and State Farm to pull their ads from the show. "Full Frontal" made other sly references to the controversy, including bleeping out words in the show's introduction and a farewell from Bee that told viewers she would "See you next...." The president said there was a double standard because Roseanne Barr's show had been canceled after she sent a racist tweet, but Bee's show has been allowed to continue. She reportedly shared another mea culpa at a private event held by the TV Academy a day later, where she was honored with a social change award.

Bee said she would "do anything" to help the immigrant children who have either been separated from their parents or lost in the immigration system, and she apologized for distracting from the issue. Bee apologized to the kids, too.

"If you're anxious about the death of civility, don't sweat it", she continued.

"If you are anxious of the death of civility, don't sweat it - I'm a comedian", Bee said. "Maybe we should all worry about the civility of our actions". I am, I'm really sorry I said that word, but you know what, civility is just nice words.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the plan entails management working with the show to prevent another incident that could drive away advertisers and draw rebukes from both ends of the political spectrum.
