'Generation Zero' Announced, An '80s Themed Shooter From Just Cause Devs

No wonder Avalanche just opened a second studio.

Just Cause and Mad Max developer Avalanche Studios has announced Generation Zero, an "explosive game of cat and mouse set in a vast open world" where hostile machines have invaded the serene countryside of 1980s Sweden. Sounds like a promising combination! The game, which is set in 1980s Sweden and tells the story of hostile machines that have taken over the countryside, is now in development, with plans to launch the game in 2019 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. This game is set to be a four-player co-op FPS and the announcement trailer showcases how players can lure, cripple and destroy enemies in various sandbox skirmishes.

Talking about Generation Zero in the PCGN office has quickly brought us to the description "open world Left for Dead with robots", and I think that's not far from what we'll end up with. Go it alone, or team up with up to three friends in seamless co-op multiplayer.

For instance: "All enemies are persistently simulated in the world, and roam the landscape with intent and objective". If your team destroys a piece of armor on a robot but it survives, when you encounter the same enemy at a later time, that damage will still be there. A tweet from Avalanche Studio founder Christian Sundberg stated that the game would be revealed today, and heavily implies we'll see more at E3 next week. Do anything in your power to level the playing field; scavenge for weapons and equipment, set traps and use the environment to your advantage in intense sandbox combat. Are you interested in Generation Zero?

What are your thoughts on Generation Zero? Generation Zero is coming to PC, PS4, and Xbox One in 2019.
