Arsenal in talks to sign Sampdoria £22m midfielder Lucas Torreira

Arsenal are looking to strengthen the spine of Unai Emery's team and the Uruguay global has emerged as a major target.

Further reports from Italy also indicate that instead of paying the full extent of Torreira's release clause up front, Arsenal would like to spread the cost through paying Sampdoria in installments.

Emery has already secured the signature of Stephan Lichtsteiner after the defender left Juventus. The Greek is due to sign a three-year contract with the Gunners with an announcement expected at the end of the month.
