Man 'armed with bomb' takes pregnant woman hostage in Paris

An area in Paris has been on lockdown after an armed man reportedly took several people, including a pregnant woman, hostage in one of the buildings, local media report.

Police said the incident was not believed to be terror-related. They declined to provide more details. Police also did not confirm reports that one of the hostages was injured.

The hostages are being held in the internal courtyard of the building, which contains a mix of offices and residential apartments.

The man was described as "determined and violent" by police, who surrounded the building where three hostages were being held on Tuesday.
