Nearly bezelless Vivo NEX comes with pop-up camera

Vivo Nex sports a 6.59-inch FHD+ 19.3:9 OLED display, an in-display fingerprint scanner, and a pop-up front-facing camera. At its Shanghai event, Vivo announced that Nex will come in two variants that differ in terms of technology and performance. The secret is the hidden front-facing camera.

It's an ingenious solution to a problem that phone designers have been trying to solve ever since Xiaomi started the bezel-less craze with the Mi Mix. At the front there is a retractable 8MP front camera.

Surfaced from the forums of Weibo, the NEX device actually looks very similar to the X21 especially the back design with the glass back, the dual rear camera and LED flashlight is also in the same position, it can be noted that the NEX has a rear fingerprint sensor so we won't be expecting an in-display fingerprint scanner at the front. NEX demonstrates Vivo's determination to test the limits and break industry conventions. Vivo says it mounted an improved version on the Nex, featuring a larger recognition area, a 30 percent lower false recognition rate, and a 10 percent higher unlock speed.

The earpiece has also been removed from its usual spot and has been replaced with a vibrating screen. vivo claims that the Screen SoundCasting Technology should deliver better-sounding bass and softer treble. The Vivo Nex takes things up a notch and features a spec sheet that is worthy of its futuristic features.

Under the hood, the NEX is powered by a Snapdragon 845 chipset, and it comes with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage as standard, and you can also pick up a variant with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. A 4,000mAh keeps the hardware humming along.
