Thousands Of Women Smash World’s Largest Skinny Dip Record

Over 2,500 women broke the Guinness world record by skinny dipping in a sea at the Republic of Ireland.

The swim which took place on Magheramore beach on Saturday afternoon was adjudicated by a Guinness World Records official.

A total of 2,505 women took the plunge by stripping off and entering the 12 degrees Celsius waters at Meaghermore beach in Co.

Many were cancers survivors, who used the mass naked swim as a way to overcome self-confidence issues related to mastectomy scars. It has since become an annual event, raising 153,000 euros ($180,000) for children's cancer charities, not including this year's record-breaking swim.

The previous record was set in Western Australia in 2015 when 786 participants swam naked to promote a positive body image near the regional capital Perth, in waters that are usually around 23C at that time of year. I have never been naked in front of anybody before, except my husband, and it was brilliant and bracing. It was great craic, ' Deirdre Betson from Dunboyne said. "So proud to have been a part of it", she wrote, adding, "aren't women just awesome".

One of the participants from Donegal was Bronwyn Walsh. We did it in her memory, ' said Betson.
