Trump SLAMS Canada’s Trudeau Over G7 Comments — ARCTIC BLAST

Trudeau has yet to comment on the Trump administration's criticism.

At the summit's conclusion on Saturday, Trudeau reiterated that Ottawa was prepared to retaliate against the new tariffs if the United States did not back down, and said Canadians "would not be pushed around".

Navarro also said Trudeau is "weak and dishonest".

Republican senators sharply criticized Navarro on Monday.

"We are being taken advantage of by virtually every one of those countries", Trump said Tuesday of the G-7.

Trump had informed the Western allies of his plans to impose new tariffs on steel and aluminum imports from Canada, the European Union and Mexico.

"I have made it clear to [President Trump] that it is not something we relish doing, but it is something that we absolutely will do", Trudeau said.

"I see the television and he's giving a news conference about how he "will not be pushed around" by the United States".

Canada is the U.S.'s largest trading partner, and the USA economy would struggle to make up for Canada's absence, Heyman noted.

Trump's surrogates piled on over the weekend, with White House trade adviser Peter Navarro telling Fox News that "there's a special place in hell" for Trudeau - comments he later walked back.

Navarro's apology was unusual in that President Donald Trump and his aides have seldom walked back harsh and even incorrect statements. Americans are thankful for Canadian artists like Leonard Cohen, Celine Dion and Drake as well as more significant historical acts like when the people of Gander, Newfoundland took in those whose planes were grounded in the town following the 9/11 attacks. "That will not stand". "Kim must not see weakness". Eventually, a compromise was reached for the text, which reads: "We underline the crucial role of a rules-based worldwide trading system".

President Donald Trump attacked America's closest allies in tweets after leaving the meeting in Canada.

"I thought he should have kept his big mouth shut, because I don't think that helps us in foreign policy. He's a pathetic little man-child".

Trump followed through on his tweet by pulling USA support for a G-7 communique. From promoting democracy and to fighting terrorism, "we're on the same page".

The summit was seen as an opportunity to overcome disagreements on new tariffs imposed by the U.S. on imports.
