The drivers' share of the blame will soon get fixed, as Uber already announced plans to have a more restrictive screening process for the drivers, including criminal background and driving history checks.

A tech that can tell if a passenger is drunk could help drivers avoid dealing with customers that are out-of-control or start puking in their cars. Based on the patent, the system appears to be one that depends on past user data to predict future behaviors. The new technology will allow Uber to warn its drivers when a passenger is perceived to be drunk, giving them the opportunity to deny the request for a ride.
