Minecraft: Story Mode Adaptation Coming To Netflix, Stranger Things Getting A Game

The service merely requires players to use their remote as a game controller, leading to the initial speculation that additional hardware won't be necessary to play the select series coming to Netflix. The new series will be the latest addition to its growing collection of interactive stories, which include kid-friendly titles like "Stretch Armstrong: The Breakout", "Puss in Book: Trapped in an Epic Tale", and "Buddy Thunderstruck: The Maybe Pile".

"Separately, we're thrilled to confirm that Telltale is developing a game based on Stranger Things that we'll publish to consoles and computers at a later date", the company said, adding that it would provide more details about the projects later in the year. Minecraft: Story Mode is already available on pretty much every electronic entertainment device under the sun (including PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PC, iOS and Android mobile devices, even AppleTV) so it's not terribly surprising that Netflix wants a version you can play with a TV remote.

Forward-looking: Netflix is expanding it's library to interactive movies and games that increase viewer engagement create a new form of consumable media.

While Telltale and others consider "Minecraft: Story Mode" to be a type of game, Netflix does not.

Telltale has mentioned wanting to work with the streaming service in the past on several occasions, and it appears that request has finally come to fruition.

The company is believed to have entered into a partnership with Telltale Games, which will bring simple adventure game experiences to Netflix. Now, according to TechRadar, it's getting into the gaming business. The most probable contender here is the hugely-popular Stranger Things. Considering that many of Telltale's games revolve around choosing between dialogue options or pointing the cursor somewhere to tell your character where to go.

The company, which has worked on a property from just about every IP holder at this point, has confirmed that a Stranger Things game is in the works. It's likely that both the partnership and new game could be announced simultaneously.
