North Korean defector to Trump: 'Don't believe Kim Jong

The historic Singapore summit between President Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un included a brief detour away from denuclearization discussions in favor of commercial real estate development.

"The president said he brought it up, we don't know to what extent he did. He loves his people, not that I'm surprised by that", Trump said.

To begin with, in agreeing to meet personally with Kim at all, Trump elevated Kim's status enormously.

Warmbier, said Ohio Republican Senator Rob Portman, is "a constant reminder to me about the evil nature of this regime".

"I must have had just countless calls and letters and tweets, anything you can do - they want the remains of their sons back", he said. -South Korea military exercises - another longtime demand - in exchange for dismantling a missile-engine testing site that the North may, in fact, have already destroyed. Today, the NBA Hall of Famer is making headlines for a weird, emotionally-charged interview on CNN in which the man formerly known as "The Worm" weeped with joy while discussing the highly-publicized Trump-Kim Summit.

Bush forged a deal in 2005, North Korea promised to abandon all of its nuclear weapons programs and return to the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons. He said it would "increase the pressure on Iran" to give up its nuclear infrastructure and capabilities.

Trump has seemed largely unconcerned about celebrating an authoritarian leader suspected of ordering the public assassination of his half-brother with a nerve agent and killing U.S. college student Otto Warmbier. The agreement required Iran to curb its uranium enrichment in exchange for relief from global sanctions.

Speaking briefly, hours after the historic talks in Singapore, Abe also said he was pleased that the United States leader had raised the emotive issue of Japanese abducted by Pyongyang.

May wins Brexit clash by offering concessions
Parliamentary debates about complex legal amendments rarely rose much heat, but passions run high over anything to do with Brexit. Pro-EU lawmakers, however, welcomed it as a signal that the government was moving towards ruling out a hardline "no deal" Brexit.

Trump added in his remarks on Tuesday that the deal "cannot be renegotiated in any way". Critics of the summit leapt at the leaders' handshake and the moonlight stroll Kim took Monday night along the glittering Singapore waterfront, saying it was further evidence that Trump was helping legitimize Kim on the world stage.

Kim, though, did get something valuable - a meeting with a sitting US president (something his father and grandfather never accomplished, despite great efforts).

Beijing has long proposed a "suspension for suspension" plan where the USA suspends its military exercises and North Korea suspends its missile tests.

"Our ultimate objective is to bring North Korea out of the hermit kingdom that it has been for many decades and make sure that they abide by worldwide norms, whether it is nuclear non-proliferation or universal human rights". But that, by itself, does little to reduce the North Korean threat. "At the same time, there needs to be a peace mechanism for the peninsula, to resolve North Korea's reasonable security concerns".

Foreign Minister Julie Bishop said the Singapore summit, which saw the first ever meeting between a sitting US President and North Korea's leader, was a "breakthrough".

But the former governor, who made a "private, humanitarian" mission to North Korea with Google chairman Eric Schmidt, also said the North Korean leader is different from his predecessors.

That's a big concession to make, and one that caught many people by surprise. Trump responded that he embracing diplomacy with Kim in hopes of saving as many as 30 million lives.
