Kawhi Leonard Rumors: New Team ‘Generating Buzz’ As Potential Destination

It's been over a week since LeBron James announced his intentions to join the Los Angeles Lakers, which is still the biggest news of the summer.

It's probably a longshot, but it is interesting to see that Toronto is being talked about alongside National Basketball Association heavyweights like the Los Angeles Lakers - Leonard's preferred choice - the Boston Celtics and Philadelphia 76ers.

That said, there is still plenty of buzz surrounding a potential trade that could send the San Antonio Spurs star to the Philadelphia 76ers.

Robert Covington #33 of the Philadelphia 76ers drives to the basket against Kawhi Leonard #2 of the San Antonio Spurs at the Wells Fargo Center on February 8, 2017 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

It's looking like Leonard is going to be on the Spurs for a while longer, at least.

Apple curiously didn't include the security in the release notes, probably to not alert "interested parties". At first we thought we would have to wait until iOS 12 this fall to see this feature, but here it is.

J.B. Smoove Joins Spider-Man: Far From Home Cast
While the plot of the film is still under wraps, we know it will take Holland's Peter Parker overseas during summer vacation. Since his role is such a mystery, we don't have much to go on, but I think it'd be cool to see Smoove play Robbie Robertson.

The Spurs reportedly are asking the world for Leonard from the Lakers - packages including L.A.'s top young players and a pile of draft picks - and don't appear willing to budge or negotiate much. When he inevitably opts out and seeks a massive contract, it opens him to all teams, not just the one that makes the trade.

Along with the Boston Celtics, the Sixers are one of the few teams other than the Lakers that have the assets to trade for Leonard.

Tim Bontemps also reports that the Philadelphia 76ers have "consistently remained atop the list of teams expected to land Leonard".

Although the rumors of the Toronto Raptors acquiring Kawhi Leonard and giving up either DeMar DeRozan or Kyle Lowry have added an interesting twist to the disgruntled Spurs standout's ongoing saga, Raptors HQ opined that the chances of the 27-year-old forward/guard playing for the NBA's only Canadian team are quite slim.
