Things To Know About The New EPA Chief

EPA Press Secretary Molly Block told HDT on July 9 that back in November, the agency proposed to "repeal certain emission requirements for gliders".

The committee wrote in a Tuesday letter to EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt that reports by the Government Accountability Office and the EPA's inspector general office cited gaps in the agency's management of accountability over contractors, such as overbilling issues and lack of awareness on the number of contractors with "significant" data security responsibilities.

At the start of 2017, small manufacturers were limited to the number of gliders they built in their biggest production year between 2010 and 2014.

The glider truck concept began so the engines of relatively new trucks that had been involved in accidents could be transferred to new truck bodies. They noted that the effort to reduce air pollution caused by diesel trucks had been embraced by Democratic and Republican administrations for almost two decades.

"I'm glad to see Pruitt go", Jepsen said.

US to release and reunite 50 migrant children with parents
Its database has some information about the children's parents but was not created to reunify families by the court's deadline. ACLU attorney Lee Gelernt suggested that for those not reunified by Tuesday, the judge could impose more specific deadlines.

The acting Environmental Protection Agency chief, Andrew Wheeler, is bringing to the job a "change in tone", the agency said, that could shed greater light on the decisions and actions of EPA leadership.

Pruitt had championed the rollback, claiming that the EPA did not have the legal authority to force companies like Fitzgerald to significantly reduce production of glider trucks.

Pruitt also moved to reverse the cap after Fitzgerald donated tens of thousands of dollars to Republican Representative for Tennessee Diane Black, who is also running for governor in the state, and Black asked Pruitt to act on the reversal, the New York Times reported. In 2018, those manufacturers were limited to no more than 300 gliders.

He did not respond to follow-up requests for additional details.

However, it should be noted that, per The Washington Post, a September 11 letter to then-EPA chief Pruitt urged him not to revisit the rule, contending that glider kits "should not be used for circumventing purchase of now certified powertrains".
