Wimbledon: John Isner reveals how 'absurd' Rafael Nadal stuns him

Kevin Anderson became the first South African in 24 years to reach the quarterfinals of Wimbledon with a 7-6 7-6 5-7 7-6 victory over Frenchman Gael Monfils in the fourth round on Monday.

He swept through the opening set in just 16 minutes, dropping just five points, before shifting down a gear to conserve petrol for what he expects to be a more arduous second week of the championships. It has been a very positive four matches for me - I didn't play on grass for a year - so I try to keep focus, that is the main thing'.

"I'm very pleased to be back in the second week".

"I feel like a lot of aspects of my game can give him a lot of trouble", said Anderson, the first South African man in the Wimbledon quarter-finals since Wayne Ferreira in 1994.

"You can't plan for them anyway".

Federer often comes across more like an operatic soloist than a competitive athlete, using the Centre Court stage to express his creativity and flair.

When he lost his 2016 semi-final to Milos Raonic, Federer feared his career may be over after seriously injuring his knee in an on-court tumble.

Victory for Nadal over his fellow left-hander would take him into a 35th Grand Slam quarterfinal.

And all on a surgically-repaired knee.

However, not only did he arrive with his batteries charged after some Mallorcan sunshine, the 32-year-old has looked like the one who beat Federer in their epic final in 2008.

Relatives sent NBC affiliate WDSU a photo of Matthews' body at the wake at the Charbonnet Labat Glapion Funeral Home in Treme. In his hands was a PS4 controller, and a phone on his lap plugged into what appears to be a portable charger.

Father Of Mesut Ozil Thinks 'Scapegoat' Should Quit Germany
Mesut Ozil's father Mustafa has said that he would retire from global duty with Germany if he was in his son's shoes. But if I were in his place, I'd say 'thanks a lot but that's it!' The hurt has grown too strong.

The Russian qualifier and Williams are the last of six mothers who began this tournament, and she told the WTA website: "I know how tough it is to come back to tennis after having your first child".

The eighth-seeded Anderson will meet defending champion Federer in the next round. She is also a former world number one.

"Of course this is an important result for me", he said. Is true has been a while since I have been in that position.

"At the same time, I have been in that position a couple of times in my career".

"I'm more concerned the World Cup final will have issues because the Wimbledon final is going on", Federer joked.

His next obstacle in his quest for a third Wimbledon title will be either Argentina's fifth-seeded Juan Martin del Potro or Frenchman Gilles Simon on Wednesday.

Del Potro was leading Simon two sets to one - 7-6 (7-1) 7-6 (7-5) 5-7 - when their fourth-round match was suspended under fading light.

The 19-year-old 31st seed has already put in his best performance at a Slam and is bidding to prevent Isner, 14 year his senior, making the quarter-finals for the first time.

Isner added another 22 aces to his tournament-topping tally that now stands at 135 after the ninth seed's 6-4 7-6 (10-8) 7-6 (7-5) triumph over young Greek sensation Stefanos Tsitsipas. Nadal then plays Jiri Vesely of the Czech Republic.

But there was no stopping the Serb once he made it on to Court One as he romped to a 6-4 6-2 6-2 win to reach the quarter-finals for a 10th time.
