Aaron Finch rises to top of ICC's T20I rankings

Short put on 95 for the first wicket with Finch (47 from 27 balls) despite him struggling for momentum early in his innings.

However, the T20I rankings remain crucial as only Australia and the next nine highest-ranked sides will automatically qualify for the 2020 World T20 set to be held in Australia.

"I think Fakhar Zaman has been outstanding and a real thorn in our side".

The T20I Players Rankings for batsmen had a brand new 1-2-3 at the end of the series between England and India, which the visitors won 2-1, and the triangular series in Zimbabwe, where Pakistan beat Australia in the final.

"I just want to score in every game I play and help the team to win matches".

Finch, the new Australia T20I captain, had a remarkable run during the tournament in Zimbabwe, scoring 68*, 172 - a world record in the format, 16, 3 and 47.

Eric Dier: Importance of `fantastic´ Raheem Sterling to…
Going by the law of averages, he's bound to break his duck soon and might just score against Croatia to mark England's first World Cup semi-final appearance since 1990.

What the world of cricket saw recently in the victor of a triangular series involving hosts Zimbabwe, Australia and Pakistan was a side which continues to astound observers with their astonishing abilities to reach newer heights with every passing game. Pakistan's triumph in the tri-series final also meant Sarfraz Ahmed's side retain top spot. After the 101 run knock, he had moved to 854 points in the rankings but subsequent scores of 6 and 19 brought his tally to 812 points.

Finch had started the T20Is in fourth position on 763 points and a tour aggregate of 391 runs not only helped him leapfrog Babar Azam, Colin Munro and Glen Maxwell, but also earned him 128 points.

Short has broken into the top 10 for the first time in his career in 10th position, moving up 18 places.

The others who garnered career-best rankings following the two series were Jason Roy (No. 15 with 641 points), Jos Buttler (No. 17 with 614 points) and Zimbabwe's Solomon Mire, who rose a staggering 202 spots to 25th place on the table.

Consider the manner in which the Pakistan side, stung by their nine-wicket loss to Australia in the initial stages of the tri-series, responded to the challenge and one can see what makes them so special. Zimbabwe finished last after losing all four of its games. The standing, a career-best number for him, takes him to 690 points, also a career high.
