Andriy Yarmolenko: West Ham sign Ukraine global winger from Borussia Dortmund

The winger is West Ham's fifth signing of the summer, following Ryan Fredericks, Lukasz Fabianski, Issa Diop and Jack Wilshere in at the London Stadium.

The Hammers have been in talks with the German club for the past few days, and have finally reached a breakthrough, securing the Ukraine global for a fee of £17.5 million (€20m/$23m).

Yarmolenko, 28, has joined in a £17.5m switch from Bundesliga outfit Borussia Dortmund.

Yarmolenko, who spent the majority of his career at Ukrainian side Dynamo Kiev, said he is looking forward to the challenge of playing in the Premier League. "He has signed a four-year deal".

"Of course, I am very happy to sign for West Ham United", Yarmolenko told the club's website.

England nowhere near their potential, says manager Gareth Southgate
Speaking to Sky News , the ex-footballer said: " Football's coming home , I couldn't listen to it for 20 years, frankly". Southgate added: "That ended in disappointment and it is nice to be able to put a different frame on it now".

West Ham's joint-chairman David Sullivan says the club are determined to add more players this summer.

"Jack also knows the Premier League very well, and I know all our supporters will join me in welcoming them both to the London Stadium".

The 28-year-old Ukraine worldwide becomes the club's fifth summer signing, following the additions of Jack Wilshere (free), Ryan Fredericks (free), Lukasz Fabianski (£7m, Swansea) and Issa Diop (£22m rising to £25m, Toulouse). West Ham hope to follow the signing with the £40m capture of Lazio midfielder Felipe Anderson.

Sources have also confirmed that central defender Fabian Balbuena, now of Brazilian club Corinthians, is set to be unveiled imminently; West Ham have triggered the Paraguay international's release clause.
