Julia Goerges reacts after beating Kiki Bertens in a Wimbledon quarter-final match.

"I think", Federer said when it was over, "I can be very pleased".

Serena Williams survived a major scare before sealing her 11th Wimbledon semi-final appearance as the seven-time champion hit back to beat Italy's Camila Giorgi 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 on Tuesday.

"I feel like it takes time to get there". "But it was tougher than the scoreline to be honest".

From a fan view, I guess it was over all too quickly on the day but even when Roger is part of a one-sided match it's still fun just to see what he produces.

But as she has done at each stage here, in just her fourth tournament back since maternity leave, Williams elevated her play.

Williams has won her first five matches against unseeded opponents.

Ostapenko also reached the quarterfinals past year in her best Wimbledon showing, losing to eventual runner-up Venus Williams.

I'm also going to a Wimbledon Experience post-tournament as quite a few things have changed since I last wrote about tickets etc.

"I'm a perfectionist, I always find something", the 36-year-old said when asked about her near-flawless display.

If Anderson is to shock Federer, who has only lost once before the quarter-finals at Wimbledon in 15 years, he will need to call up the heavy artillery which has served him well at the tournament this year. And if anyone but Williams wins, it would be their first Wimbledon title.

'Wow, it's pretty awesome, ' Goerges said afterwards. "Everybody has the same chances to win that match, and I'm looking forward to it".

The 12th-seeded Ostapenko was aggressive throughout, hitting 28 winners - 13 coming off her backhand. She figured out Giorgi's strong serve, avoided any break points and had just four unforced errors.

Kerber is a former No. 1 who owns two Grand Slam titles and was the runner-up to Williams at Wimbledon two years ago.

"After the first set, I was like, 'All right, let's go three sets.' And that's kind of what I thought".

Germany´s Angelique Kerber, seeded 11th, is the top ranked player remaining.

Kerber takes on Latvia's Jelena Ostapenko in the other semifinal.

Kerber, who won the Australian and US Open titles in 2016, will be playing in the seventh Grand Slam semifinal of her career. Kerber served for the victory at 5-4 in the second set, but got broken.

Ostapenko played her usual aggressive style, compiling a 33-6 edge in winners.

Federer cruised past Frenchman Adrian Mannarino in his Round of 16 match on Monday in a thumping 6-0 7-5 6-4 victory.

Juan Martin del Potro had to fight hard to beat France's Gilles Simon. In front of a Centre Court crowd that included Justin Timberlake, Jessica Biel and Drake, Giorgi stood inside the baseline to return the Williams serve, never yielding ground and pushing the American to withstand her power.
