Riyad Mahrez: Midfielder To Join Manchester City

Manchester City have completed the signing of Riyad Mahrez from Leicester City.

Wantaway Leicester City winger Riyad Mahrez finally looks set for his dream move to Manchester City.

He has signed a five-year contract with Pep Guardiola's City, which won the league by 19 points in May.

"I am so pleased to have joined City, a side playing great football under Pep Guardiola", the Algeria global told the official club website.

Mahrez was strongly linked with a switch to the Etihad Stadium at the end of the January transfer window following an injury sustained by Leroy Sane, but the move fell through. "He beats defenders and creates space", Begiristain said on the club's website.

The manager is mindful of the workload placed upon Raheem Sterling and Leroy Sane last season and has afforded the latter a further week's holiday.

But the Premier League champions remained keen on Mahrez, who scored 13 goals in 41 appearances for Leicester last season.

Riyad's progress with Leicester City also saw him firmly establish himself as a key member of the Algerian national team, with whom he played in the 2014 FIFA World Cup Finals and both the 2015 and 2017 Africa Cup of Nations.
