Wimbledon 2018: Novak Djokovic beats Kei Nishikori to make semis

It will be Djokovic's first Grand Slam semi-final since the 2016 US Open as he continues his bid to return to the top of the game.

Djokovic also advanced to his first Grand Slam semifinal since 2016, shrugging off a second-set slump to beat Kei Nishikori 6-3, 3-6, 6-2, 6-2.

"I didn't harm the grass, I know how I threw the racket".

"The umpire said he didn't see".

"I think it's not fair, but it is the way it is in the midst of the emotions of a match". Both Djokovic and Ivanisevic will follow up their personal involvements in the Wimbledon men's quarter finals by willing the Croatians to break English hearts later that evening.

It was performance of resilience and resolve from the former number one, reminiscent of the player who held all four Grand Slam titles two years ago. "I've been building the last couple of weeks on the level of tennis that I've played the last couple of months, the last couple of clay-court tournaments and Queen's".

Nishikori held a 10-minute game to start the second set and then saved three break points in his next service game as Djokovic looked to build on his advantage.

"I am peaking at the right moment".

India's economy overtakes France to become sixth largest in the world
The country's gross domestic product (GDP) surged to $2.597 trillion at the end of 2017, compared to France's $2.582 trillion. The World Bank forecasted India as the world's fastest growing economy "as factors holding back growth in India fade".

Marcus Smart Open To Deal Worth Less Than $15M Per Season
The Boston Globe's Adam Himmelsbach noted that Smart is "open to signing a multiyear deal for less than $15 million per season". Per Himmelsbach, Smart will has already met with two teams while in Las Vegas, and he will meet with two more on Tuesday.

"You're saying in the point if I toss my racket like this I'm ruining the court?"

The 2011, 2014 and 2015 champion was clearly unsettled by the dispute, quickly surrendering the set.

Nishikori, who had won only two matches in 15 meetings with the 12-time major victor, broke for 1-0 in the fourth but was broken straight back.

Djokovic wrested back the momentum for good after coming from 0-40 down at 2-2 in the third set to hold serve, and then breaking his Japanese opponent in the next game.

Djokovic's mood was not improved by Ramos choosing not to punish Nishikori for imitating his earlier offence of bashing a racquet into the ground.

Ramos then hit Djokovic with a time violation warning for taking too long to serve in the seventh game of the fourth set.

While events on court have been moving along nicely for Novak Djokovic thus far at Wimbledon, his interest in the World Cup has drawn the ire of government officials in his native Serbia.
