All 12 boys, football coach rescued from Thai cave

All 12 boys, football coach rescued from Thai cave

Yesterday, the Facebook page of the Thai navy Seals, who have been central to the rescue operation, was updated to say "two days, eight boars" - a reference to the Wild Boars, the name of the boys' football team.

The saga has dominated global headlines, with the team spending nine days unaccounted for inside the cave, before British divers found them - emaciated and dishevelled - huddling on a muddy bank above the flooding.

"All five will be brought out at the same time today", he said, to cheers from reporters and rescue. However, scattered monsoon rains continued to risk percolating through the limestone cave walls to flood the tunnels with water.

"I beg Phra Pirun because the Meteorological Department said that from Monday on there will be continuous rain", Bancha said.

Information on the rescue operation, the health of those rescued - and their identities - has been tightly guarded by Thai authorities, but their names were being widely used in Thai media reports.

"Any way we can help involve them in their own rescue is beneficial", he said.

The final four and their coach are expected to be rescued later Tuesday after 17 nights inside the cave system.

"I am very happy about those who already made it out and I think everyone will be out today", said Waranchit Karnkaew, 14, who also said the football-mad boys had been closely following games at the World Cup in Russian Federation before they were trapped.

The eight boys brought out by divers over the previous two days are in "high spirits", a senior health official said.

Last Friday, an ex-Navy SEAL died while placing oxygen tanks along the 4.7-kilometer (2.9-mile) evacuation route.

On day three, all of the remaining boys and their coach were rescued from the cave.

Indeed, news of the boys' plight reached all corners of the globe, with Federation Internationale de Football Association chief Gianni Infantino having pledged to invite the Wild Boar Academy to the World Cup final if they are deemed well enough to make the trip.

Workers have been labouring round the clock to pump water out of the cave, and authorities said heavy downpours overnight did not raise water levels inside.

Thai Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-ocha, speaking Tuesday before the final rescue was completed, said the boys were given an anti-anxiety medication to help with their perilous removal from the cave.
