Armless Miami man charged with stabbing Chicago tourist

An armless homeless man in Miami, Florida has been charged with stabbing a Chicago tourist with scissors.

The Miami Herald reports that Crenshaw is a popular fixture in the area, known for painting on canvases along a trendy spot in South Beach.

But on Tuesday, he was arrested and charged with aggravated battery, said Miami-Dade Corrections.

Crenshaw then allegedly pulled out a pair of scissors, stabbed Coronado and then left the scene.

Crenshaw is well-known for selling paintings drawn with his feet to tourists on Miami's Lincoln Road mall.

He told officers he was lying on the ground when the victim came up to him and punched him in the head. He and a female friend who was present said Mr Coronado asked Mr Crenshaw for directions and was attacked, police said.

Coronado was taken to the hospital and treated for injuries.

Police have arrested Crenshaw multiple times in the past, the Herald reports, on charges that include trespassing, disorderly intoxication and battery on police officers, among others.

Crenshaw, who told police he acted in self-defense, was being held at Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center in Miami.
