Chelsea's Kenedy has medical ahead of Newcastle loan return

Chelsea's Kenedy has medical ahead of Newcastle loan return

According to the Daily Mail, the deal's as good as done.

The "Toon" have already signed goalkeeper Martin Dubravka, who was also on loan at the club last season, and Ki Seung-Yeung from relegated Swansea City as Benitez looks to improve his side ahead of the Premier League season. Kenedy joined Newcastle last January on a six-month loan deal and went on to star for the Magpies impressively.

Newcastle must seize on Chelsea's situation by ramping up interest in Zapata and try to bring him to the Premier League for next season, where he can replace the likes of Joselu and Dwight Gayle in attack.

Kenedy has made only 27 appearances for his parent club since his move from Brazilian side Fluminense three seasons ago, and his chances of becoming a regular first-team squad member grow less likely with every loan move.

Froome booed and whistled at Tour presentation
Froome is aiming to join Jacques Anquetil, Eddy Merckx, Bernard Hinault and Miguel Indurain as the only riders to win the Tour five times.

He played 13 times for Newcastle last season, scoring twice.

Emerson Palmieri's arrival from Roma for around £20m at the end of the winter window then pushed Kenedy further down the pecking order, and it was decided that a loan to Newcastle for the remainder of the campaign was the best option to rebuild his value.

Napoli and Chelsea are yet to agree compensation for the incoming Blues boss Maurizio Sarri - with Napoli demanding €20m - while Antonio Conte is yet to officially leave the club.
