Maurizio Sarri’s arrival at Chelsea is imminent

Missing out on Champions League spots under Antonio Conte was a huge issue and we can not spend another year out of Europe's elite club competition.

Maurizio Sarri is eager to make Napoli and Senegal star Kalidou Koulibaly his first signing of the summer he becomes new Chelsea manager in the near future.

The 59-year-old is said to have agreed to a two-year-deal to take over from Antonio Conte at Stamford Bridge, with negations for his release from his contract with Napoli at an advanced stage.

"The former Napoli man has been well-backed to get the job as it appears this has been the worst kept secret in football for a long time".

Conte, despite winning the Premier League in his first season at Chelsea and the FA Cup in his second, looks to be on the way out after seemingly falling out with the board over transfer policy. Napoli replaced the Italian with his fellow countryman Carlo Ancelotti last month, but he remains contracted to the Naples club and while we know that his compensation clause was previously £7m, this figure is now thought to have been halved.

Peculiarly, it has been reported that Sarri will live at Chelsea's Cobham training ground upon completion of his move, as the former Empoli manager seeks to rebuild his squad ahead of the return of players on July 9.

Chelsea legend Gianfranco Zola will join his coaching staff.
