Second suspect arrested in shooting death of XXXTentacion in South Florida

A Fort Lauderdale man on probation has been charged with first-degree murder as the second suspect in the shooting death of rapper XXXTentacion.

Detectives at the Broward County Sheriff's Office in Florida say they are still looking for a second gunman.

Boatwright was initially arrested last week on an unrelated drug charge and has a lengthy criminal past, including several drug charges and an arrest for battery.

XXXTentacion's hit "Sad", rose to No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 charts following his death.

Another suspect Dedrick Williams, 22, was charged last month with first-degree murder and is now in police custody. The BSO news release says only that Boatwright and an armed accomplice confronted XXXTentacion in a robbery attempt, and at least one of them fired a gun. Both of the suspects fled in a dark-color SUV.

Onfroy was taken to Broward Health North, where he was pronounced dead. Also charged in the killing is 22-year-old Dedrick Williams.

Williams was allegedly driving an SUV that cut off the rapper's BMW as he attempted to leave the parking lot of the motorsports store, according to Williams' arrest warrant.

It's not clear why a murder charge was filed against Williams. Investigators have identified 22-year-old Michael Boatwright as one of the two armed suspects. Police charged Williams with first-degree murder, a probation violation for theft of a auto, and driving without a valid license. He was being held without bond Wednesday, and attorney information wasn't available. The sheriff's office didn't say whether it is accusing Boatwright or the other man of killing Onfroy. Since early reports claimed that the suspects were seen with a red mask, the internet thought it had found the suspects.
