Some are walking around, while others sit up in their beds, waving at cameras and flashing the Spider-Man hand sign from their quarantined unit at the Chiangrai Prachanukroh Hospital.

The 12 boys rescued from a Thai cave were sedated and passed on stretchers along the twisting, narrow passageways of the Tham Luang complex, a rescuer said yesterday (July 11) as the first footage emerged of an astonishing mission that has captivated the world.

At least two Hollywood producers are already plotting a movie project about the Wild Boars soccer team and their coach in anticipation of global box office success.

Meanwhile, reports say the boys and the coach were sedated to stop them panicking during the risky rescue.

Following Tuesday's miraculous rescue, the focus has now shifted to the recovery of the boys. "We saw that he gave his life for this cause". "I want to say thanks for all the support and I want to apologize to the parents".

"I started to cry, everybody started to cry", he said.

During the roughly nine-hour rescue operation, the boys were underwater for four to six hours, according to Jedsada Chokedamrongsook, the permanent secretary of the Thai Health Ministry.

The boys seem to be going through progressive stages once they reach the hospital.

The children were kept in special full-face diving masks even over the dry sections because of dwindling oxygen underground. "Some of them were asleep, some of them were wiggling their fingers...[as if] groggy, but they were breathing", Navy SEAL Chaiyananta Peeranarong, who helped with the rescue, told the news agency.

"We're not heroes, what we do is very calculating, very calm, it's quite the opposite".

"It was mostly a matter of clambering through mud, which was very tough", Ben Reymenants said.

That left 20 or so divers scrambling to flee the rising waters, he said, explaining they narrowly made it out time.

Ivanhoe Pictures president John Penotti on Wednesday issued a statement saying that Thailand's Navy and government had selected the company for the film adaptation of the almost three-week ordeal.

Despite the online brickbats, Ivanhoe Pictures' John M. Chu, who directed upcoming film "Crazy Rich Asians", said he would be sensitive to the diversity in the story.

The other company looking to develop a movie on the event is USA -based Pure Flix, which specializes in Christian and family films.

To get through flooded areas, the children were strapped to a rescue diver and guided through.

"They and their families won't have the capacity to cope with this kind of thing".
