Hearthstone’s ‘Boomsday’ expansion brings mad science to the card game

Hearthstone’s ‘Boomsday’ expansion brings mad science to the card game

Explore the wonders of science with 135 zany new cards in The Boomsday Project™, the next expansion for Hearthstone®, Blizzard Entertainment's smash-hit digital card game. Projects are spells that affect both players in some way but may yield certain advantages based on how you choose to strategically use them.

For the first time ever, each class will be getting a legendary spell card - you can see the Rogue's in the gallery above.

There is also a freakish Rogue legendary spell in Myra's Unstable Element which draws the rest of your deck.

These cards are examples of all the new mechanics included in The Boomsday Project which looks to be the biggest shakeup for HearthStone in a while.

Other changes include two new card types, with "Projects" providing a bonus to both players when played, and Omega Cards, which offer potent rewards when played at ten mana.

The Omega cards will grant some major benefits to those who have 10 mana crystals.

Sacha Baron Cohen's 'Secret' Showtime Series Gets Premiere Date
It also follows news from earlier this year, in which it was said that Baron Cohen was trying to get in a room with O.J. The show , which premieres on Showtime on Sunday, marks his first full series for TV since Da Ali G Show in 2004.

NEW KEYWORD: MAGNETIC - Merge Mech minions with the Magnetic keyword, combining their attack, health, and abilities to construct truly fearsome amalgamated automatons. A video presenting a theme for the new expansion, The Boomsday Project, appeared on Hearthstone's YouTube channel.

What can you expect from those cards?

You read that right: draw your whole deck. Cards like the neutral Epic minion Omega Defender with 2/6 stats and Taunt behave normally throughout the game but they get a bonus if you have ten mana crystals. A 3/3 at first glance might not seem too exciting, until you remember that Shaman has some outrageously powerful spells. A new Warrior hero replacement was also teased, and while the card's title was legible, none of the effects could be read.

Excited for more reveals? The 50-card pack includes one free golden Legendary and the Mecha-Jaraxxus card back and the 80-card pack includes a free golden Legendary, as well as the Mecha-JaraxxusWarlock Hero, in addition to the Mecha-Jaraxxus card back.

Instead of having a boss fight-style single-player mode like the last two expansions, The Boomsday Project will introduce a new mode called The Puzzle Lab. If the two most recent expansions are anything to go by, this will involve building a deck and challenging somewhat randomized boss characters as you work your way through gauntlet of eight challenges. You may be able to theorize what you'll be doing by taking a look at the screenshots below.

The Puzzle Lab will include over 100 different mind-boggling puzzles that will set up like brain-teasers.
