Artist creates insane life-sized sculpture of Conor McGregor for his 30th birthday

Conor McGregor will be gifted a life-size sculpture of himself worth over €50k on his 30th birthday.

"He is a phenomenon of our time - not just a smart athlete", Askelovic said.

Askelovic - better known as Aspencrow - spent five months handcrafting the 100kg sculpture from photographs alone.

Born in Dublin in 1988, McGregor rose to become one of the biggest stars in the world of mixed martial arts (MMA).

Khabib went on to claiming 155lbs gold back at UFC 223, and Mcgregor who are now dealing with legal issues in regards to bus rampage and hasn't competed since claiming the lightweight title at UFC 205, where he became the promotion's first two-weight world champion simultaneous.

Last August, he switched to boxing to fight Floyd Mayweather.

McGregor, who turns 30 on Saturday, will reportedly receive the statue at the end of September after it spends a couple of months on display in London. "It's normal that someone chose to immortalise him in this way". "You can see him as a prisoner, or a God, or just as a person".

The artist admits that he hasn't actually spoken to McGregor directly, but has been communicating with him through a friend.

"That's how I got the information that he knows about the sculpture, and that he accepts it", he told the BBC.

The sculpture, which depicts McGregor bursting out of a block of marble, is part of an edition of three unique variations of the piece and will be unveiled at Mayfair's JD Malat Gallery on July 14.
