Her daughter Nancy Junior said that she had "passed away peacefully". Frank who passed away on May 14, 1998, from all accounts, took care of Nancy after their divorce for the remainder of her life. "Godspeed, Momma. Thank you for everything", she wrote.

The first wife of singer Frank Sinatra has died peacefully at 101 years of age, her daughter has said.

Nancy and Frank married in their teens and had three children together.

The couple, both born in New Jersey, had three children.

In later years she would become known as Nancy Sr, especially after daughter Nancy became a 1960s singing star in her own right with These Boots are Made for Walking and other hit songs.

Nancy Sinatra Sr. married Frank Sinatra Sr., then an aspiring lounge singer, in 1939.

Sadly, the marriage eventually crumbled as Nancy filed for a legal separation on the grounds of his mental cruelty amid reports that he embarked on another affair, this time with Hollywood icon, Ava Gardner, and they were divorced by 1951.

When Frank Jr was released unharmed, his mother famously asked a pack of reporters "Fellas, do you mind if we go now?"

Nancy and Frank remained friends after separating in 1950.

Frank went on to Wednesday actress Mia Farrow and Barbara Marx before his fatal heart attack at the age of 82.
