Sprint Overhauls Unlimited Plans: What's the Best Deal?

Sprint Overhauls Unlimited Plans: What's the Best Deal?

"Combined with our new Unlimited Military and 55+ plan we're providing something for everyone, at the best price". Both Plus and Basic plans are available to existing customers.

The renamed Unlimited Basic plan is still $60 a month.

Sprint's new "Unlimited Basic" plan costs $60 per month for one line of service or $140 for four lines of service, though it streams video at 480p resolution and only includes 500 MB of personal hotspot service. You get subscriptions to Hulu and Tidal for your troubles as well, which helps sweeten the pot a little.

Despite Sprint's excitement about revealing these changes, it's hard not to notice that what the company is really doing is taking its current all-encompassing plan and splitting it into two: one crappier version of the current plan at the current price, and one more expensive option that adds a few more features over the current plan. Hulu is included in Sprint's Unlimited Freedom plan, alongside 10 GB of personal hotspot data per line. The second line costs $40 and the subsequent lines costs $20 a piece per month. Sprint had been waiving the fees on the third, fourth and fifth lines of its Unlimited Freedom plan for a year, letting families of four get unlimited data for $100 a month for the next 12 months. With five, the cost per line for the more expensive option is $42, and the other is $32.
