Speaking about the role earlier this year, Colman said she was "thrilled to be part of the Crown".

The Crown fans have been given the first look at Olivia Colman in action as Queen Elizabeth II in the show's upcoming third season. The caption of the photo reads, "Patience".

Season three of Netflix's "The Crown" is now filming, and is expected to debut on the streaming service in all its British glory some time in 2019.

Colman was announced in October as the new lead in the award-winning drama taking over the role of Queen Elizabeth from Claire Foy. I was utterly gripped watching it, a proper "just one more" feeling.

Lithgow, who was previously best known for his comedy role in 3rd Rock From The Sun, won an Emmy for his portrayal of the wartime leader in the show's first series.

Last week, "The Crown" was nominated for 13 Emmys including best drama, best actress in a drama for Claire Foy, and Matt Smith for best supporting actor in a drama.
