Donald Trump denies collusion, says Russian Federation probe 'a disaster' for US

Donald Trump denies collusion, says Russian Federation probe 'a disaster' for US

We support the pro-Western party. This was reportedly the first time in history a United States and Russian president have met alone.

"We ran a brilliant campaign, and that's why I'm president", Trump said at one point.

Putin told Trump at the start of their summit on Monday "the time has come to talk thoroughly about bilateral relations, as well as various hotspots in the world".

Browder, an outspoken Putin critic, was a driving force behind a USA law targeting Russian officials over human rights abuses.

After Trump and Putin exited the stage, the room erupted into chatter.

Mr Trump said last week that he planned to again raise the meddling issue with Mr Putin, but questions have been swirling about whether Mr Trump will sharply and publicly rebuke his Russian counterpart for the interference that prompted a special investigation probe that Mr Trump has repeatedly labelled a "witch hunt".

The White House has struggled to explain why Trump aligned so closely with Putin, and lawmakers in both major parties expressed concern with his suggestion that he believes Putin's denial of interfering in the 2016 elections. Mr Trump had previously criticised the pipeline.

In the interview, Putin also pushed back against suggestions that Russian Federation may have compromising material about Trump, saying "it's clear that we did nothing of that kind of against Mr. Trump".

After his electoral victory, which caught even Trump by surprise, the president reluctantly acknowledged Russian meddling in the election - the unanimous consensus of the intelligence community - while in the same breath suggesting other countries could be responsible.

"Today's press conference in Helsinki was one of the most disgraceful performances by an American president in memory", he said.

Afterward, Trump's national intelligence director, Dan Coats, restated the consensus of USA intelligence: "We have been clear in our assessments of Russian meddling in the 2016 election and their ongoing, pervasive efforts to undermine our democracy, and we will continue to provide unvarnished and objective intelligence in support of our national security".

And when Putin called Trump "Donald" - a sign of disrespect that Trump's foes usually use - the president should have responded in kind, calling Putin "Vlad".

'You have to find out who did Peter Strzok report to because it was (former FBI Director James) Comey and it was (former Deputy Director Andrew) McCabe, but it was also probably Obama, ' Trump said.

Environmental group Greenpeace have claimed responsibility for the stunt. "I mean they have a lot of great products". He waved as they heckled him from a hill overlooking the Ailsa championship course of his golf resort.

US politician denounces Sacha Baron Cohen's TV guns prank as 'sick fraud'
Palin revealed last week she was one of Cohen's victims, and claimed he impersonated a disabled veteran to dupe her - causing some outrage over the stunt .

Hundreds of people also marched through the streets of the Finnish capital, demonstrating against Trump and Putin's presence in the country.

"Please get this rubbish out of your heads", the Russian leader said.

Some wanted Trump to emulate Nikita Khrushchev, who blew up the Paris summit in May 1960 over a failed USA intelligence operation - the U-2 spy plane shot down over the Urals just weeks earlier.

Senate Democratic leader Chuck Schumer said Mr Trump's actions had "strengthened our adversaries while weakening our defences and those of our allies".

Trump touted the summit as a chance to improve ties.

Domestic politics constrain Putin from offering Trump anything he wants, just as USA politics, institutional norms, and the separation of powers prevent Trump from achieving a complete reversal of USA foreign policy and allying us with Russian Federation against Western Europe.

Making efforts to move past the politically-charged allegations, Putin touted the summit as a "success". "It is the most serious mistake of his presidency and must be corrected - immediately", Gingrich tweeted.

Putin showed up late to his meeting with the United States president in Helsinki Monday after arriving in the Finnish capital late.

"No prior president has ever abased himself more abjectly before a tyrant".

The criticism of the president grew as he flew back to America.

Beginning his joint press conference with Vladimir Putin, President Trump declared that US relations with Russian Federation have "never been worse".

"[Russia] remains hostile to our most basic values and ideals".

"Creating safety for Israel is something both Putin and I would like to see very much", Trump said.
