Jets Sign Sam Darnold, QB Starts Practicing

Two NFL first-round draft selections still hadn't reported to their respective training camps as of Sunday afternoon as their representatives continue to negotiate their contracts.

New York Jets rookie quarterback Sam Darnold signed a four-year, $30.25 million fully guaranteed contract, the team announced on Monday.

Darnold was not in attendance when the Jets began training camp Friday.

Another issue that could be complicating matters is that Darnold's agent Jimmy Sexton has some negative history with the Jets, as pointed out by Gary Myers.

Darnold's extended absence is putting him behind in the race for playing time.

ESPN NFL Nation reporter Rich Cimini reported that the Jets agreed to change their position on the guaranteed money language, and Darnold would only lose the guarantee with a suspension by the NFL, not a fine as the team originally proposed.

Newly signed receiver Corey "Philly" Brown is in concussion protocol after hitting his head in the weight room and when the Broncos put on shoulder pads for the first time Monday several players hobbled off.

After the ceremony, uniformed soldiers carefully loaded each case into two C-17 cargo planes, which later took off for Hawaii. Abraham Denmark, director of the Asia Programme at the Wilson Centre, cautioned not to read too much into the repatriation.

EA Launches its Full Access Origin Access Premier Service on PC
Access to EA's entire back catalogue is nothing to sneeze at, especially if there are a ton of games you've missed over the years. Players can choose between two payment options for this subscription: $99,99 dollars every year or $14,99 every month.

Mobile, Nokia seal $3.5B deal for 5G network
Nokia's fortunes have been on a downward turn in recent years, as demand for 4G network equipment has slowed. Using 5G, Nokia and T-Mobile will develop, test and launch the next generation of connectivity services.

According to Spotrac, the total value of Smith's contract is expected to be about $18.6 million, including a signing bonus of $11.6 million. But this is so, so dumb for a No. 3 overall pick and a franchise quarterback: if you cut him within four years, the ramifications are so much worse than a couple million dollars for the franchise.

While there were plenty of green and white No. 14 jerseys roaming the Jets' practice facility, none were being worn by the No. 3 overall pick in the National Football League draft. It prevents a player from "double dipping", or earning two paychecks from two teams after he's cut by the team that drafted him.

While this entire ordeal involving Darnold's rookie contract might have rubbed fans the wrong way, time heals all. "It's part of the business", coach Todd Bowles said Saturday.

NOTES: Bowles confirmed that RB Eli McGuire will need surgery on his broken foot, and said a timetable for his return would be determined after the procedure.

John Ross got up to top speed, ran past a defender and caught Andy Dalton's long pass in stride, drawing an ovation from the approximately 950 fans watching the first practice of Bengals camp.

The Jets do not make details of contracts available.

The Jets are scheduled to open the preseason August 10 against the Falcons.
