Cryptic Paul Pogba Tweet Gets Manchester United Fans Talking

Paul Pogba said he needs to be happy to perform at his best for Manchester United, adding that he would be fined if he spoke his true feelings.

Pogba, fresh from his triumph in Russian Federation with France but also the subject of recent transfer speculation, was named captain by manager Jose Mourinho and took responsibility for the penalty after a handball by Daniel Amartey, slowly shuffling up before beating Kasper Schmeichel.

The Portuguese's side beat Leicester City 2-1 in Friday night's Premier League opener at Old Trafford thanks to a Paul Pogba penalty and a late Luke Shaw strike.

"What do you mean being the real Pogba?" he asked. "That's all I say".

The French midfielder, who captained and scored in the match, said this on his social media channels: "I'll always give my best to the fans and my teammates no matter what's going on".

"There are things I can not say otherwise I will get fined", he added.

Both sides' top scorers from last season, Romelu Lukaku and Vardy, started on the bench after their World Cup exertions and were introduced for the final quarter.

Police said they had acted in a proportionate way, responding to the violent behaviour of hooligans in the crowd. Some people sustained head and other injuries, while others were overcome by tear gas, authorities said.

"Pogba was a monster", Mourinho said. "I have always been talking to the team-mates". I think one defensive mistake and probably the linesman could help him and give a free-kick against Leicester. They spent more money than us, so in the Premier League we must get used to teams with players of the same quality that we have. "No, I just have to be myself and do what I know, do what I can do and do what I know to do".

Pogba has become the teacher in this United midfield, with summer signing Fred and academy product Andreas Pereira looking up to the Frenchman and learning from him. "It's a different team, obviously".

It also seems like a good decision when you take into account that Manchester City work with a director of football.

Pogba said "everybody was on the same page" in the France dressing room, from manager Didier Deschamps to the kitman, physio and players. "I think we are more the head coach than the manager", Mourinho told Sky Sports. It's going to be easier and it makes the team go higher.

And in what looked like another dig at executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward, the 55-year-old suggested he is no longer United manager but "head coach". "I didn't have any pre-season games, I came back on Monday so it was very hard for the legs".

"We played against a team that invest more than us".
