David Wagner: Huddersfield 'tried everything' against Chelsea

Just 28 days after being belatedly confirmed as Antonio Conte's successor, the Italian got his first taste of the English top-flight in West Yorkshire.

Chelsea were lacking dynamism and conviction as Huddersfield sat deep and proved hard to break down, but Pedro's driving run and pass out to Willian enabled the Brazilian to pick out Kante, who scuffed a left-footed volley into the ground and inside the far post in the 34th minute.

He created Chelsea's third goal for Pedro just minutes after coming on and whilst Huddersfield were already a beaten side by that point, he ran riot and was at his sizzling best gliding past players.

"I have to know the characteristics of the players because I think I don't want to do another Naples", he said. If you look at the result, you can think about an easy game, but in the first half we were in trouble for 15 minutes against a very physical team. "The best capacity was to suffer, but then I think the second half maybe they were exhausted".

Kepa Arrizabalaga, the world's most expensive goalkeeper, barely had a save to make on his Blues debut, while Jorginho slotted seamlessly into a well-balanced midfield, which refused to be out-hussled by David Wagner's Terriers. "My job is to try to win matches".

An away win, featuring three goals and a clean sheet, are reasons to be cheerful, but add to that an all-round team performance from a group who have rediscovered the joy of being able to play an enterprising brand of football.

An airline employee had stolen a 78-seat turboprop airliner and conducted a risky joyride, complete with loops and other stunts. NBC reported that the man expressed distress about his mental health while communicating with the air traffic control tower.

Things are looking good for Chelsea if he can maintain this sort of form. "But I have seen a player who is very happy to stay here, so I think it will be no problem, the new contract".

"It depends on me and the players". "We did a preseason. what can I say. unusual, maybe". I felt the energy in the stadium and we were unlucky in the first half.

It was Huddersfield's only shot on target in the opening period, but Kepa was relieved to see a Steve Mounie header off the post and eventually get cleared from danger. Jorginho also impressed and Eden Hazard was typically brilliant when he came on in the second half.

"We have to improve to defend in the other half, to press against three defenders". You can't do that against Chelsea because they will hurt you, and that's exactly what they did. I don't know. The situation until now has been very hard.

A Spaniard was then involved with the second as Marcos Alonso went down in the area for a penalty.
