Pogba gives cryptic response on United future

Manchester United "will appoint their first ever director of football" in the aftermath of Jose Mourinho's frustrating summer transfer window. "There are things that I can not say otherwise I will get fined", Pogba said. "Like I always say, I always give my best for the fans, for my team-mates, for the people that trust me".

"Pogba was a monster", "We thought maximum [he would play] 60 minutes, but he managed more than 80".

"I don't think there's any question that a player would say that under Fergie because you'd have been finished".

Mourinho had implied Pogba - whose agent Mini Raiola has reportedly been talking with Barcelona - had flourished under Didier Deschamps at the World Cup because he could not be distracted by his entourage or by his commercial obligations.

The former Chelsea and Real Madrid boss has regularly criticised his players in public with United struggling ahead of the new season.

Thursday's transfer deadline came and went without United adding one or two more players to the squad, something Mourinho believes they badly needed.

Manchester United are ready to overhaul their approach to recruitment by hiring a Director of Football in reaction to their disappointing transfer window, according to reports. "He got the captaincy and played very well, but Mourinho will have noticed the line and there will always be a response, because there always is".

If a head coach isn't given full authority over his players then things can quickly get out of hand.

Pogba said "everybody was on the same page" in the France dressing room, from Deschamps to the staff and players - that has not necessarily been the case at United with several players at different times singled out for public criticism by Mourinho.
