Commander Of Bin Laden Raid: Revoke My Security Clearance Too, Trump

Brennan was reacting to a report in The Washington Post on Friday that said the decision to revoke his security clearance had been finalized in order to switch the news cycle's focus from former White House aide Omarosa Manigault Newman's new book.

"[It's] so obvious that a junior lawyer in any prosecutor's office would want this case", diGenova said, adding that Robert Mueller has realized his Trump probe is "worthless". Writing in The Washington Post, William H. McRaven said he would "consider it an honour" if Trump would revoke his clearance as well. It was signed by six former CIA directors, five former CIA deputy directors and a former director of National Intelligence.

In another development, the former U.S. Navy admiral who led the operation to kill terrorist leader Osama bin Laden is challenging Trump to revoke his security clearance.

Hayden warned the action will have a "chilling effect" on the entire intelligence community, "that if you disagree with the president, if you say things with which the president disagrees or he does not like, he is willing to take punitive action against you".

Speaking to reporters Friday, Trump fired back.

Like the signatories of the first letter, the 60 former Central Intelligence Agency officers said that while they do not necessarily agree with Brennan's opinions, "It is our firm belief that the country will be weakened if there is a political litmus test applied before seasoned experts are allowed to share their views".

In his Friday comments, Trump said he had gotten "tremendous response" for his action against Brennan. "Many people don't even know who [Brennan] is, and now he has a bigger voice".

Return to test team for Ben Stokes after brawl not yet decided
The England captain announced the XI for Saturday's third Test on match-eve, with Stokes brought straight back in. Root said as quoted by ecb.co.uk, "It was one of the most hard decisions I've had to make as captain".

Mr Clapper and Mr Brennan were among the Obama administration officials who briefed Mr Trump before his inauguration on evidence of Russian meddling in the 2016 election.

"The defendant did not provide 'substantial assistance, ' and much of the information provided. came only after the government confronted him with his own emails, text messages, internet search history and other information it obtained via search warrants and subpoenas", Mueller wrote. "If anything, I'm giving him a bigger voice".

He denied that he was trying to silence Brennan, a frequent critic of the president.

Mr Trump revoked the security clearance of Mr Brennan on Wednesday and warned several other prominent critics that they too risk being blacklisted.

"All records of communications, including but not limited to letters, emails, text messages, and instant chats, between former CIA Director John Brennan and/or officials in the CIA Director's Office on the one hand, and Senator Harry Reid and/or members of Senator Reid's staff on the other hand, regarding, concerning or relating to the Christopher Steele "dossier" and/or alleged "collusion" between the Trump presidential campaign and Russian Federation".

"The defendant lied in order to hide his contacts with Russians and Russian intermediaries during the campaign and made his false statements to investigators on 27 January 2017, early in the investigation, when key investigative decisions, including who to interview and when, were being made", Mr Mueller said.

If you think for a moment that your McCarthy-era tactics will suppress the voices of criticism, you are sadly mistaken.
