Kevin De Bruyne suffers a major injury in training

While the full extent of the injury is yet to be revealed, the report likens the injury to the one the Belgian suffered against Everton in 2016, a torn knee ligament injury which kept the player out for over two months.

It has been reported the Belgium worldwide suffered the injury during training.

De Bruyne was City's player of the season last term, scoring 12 goals and providing 21 assists as his side won the Premier League and EFL Cup.

But Bellamy reckons if any team can handle one of their stars going down it's Guardiola's City.

Despite only a week's worth of training, Pep Guardiola named De Bruyne among the substitutes for Sunday's trip to Arsenal and brought the playmaker on after the hour-mark.

"That is how I prefer to play football, we are on the same wavelength".

City became the first team ever to win 14 successive English top-flight games when they triumphed 2-1 at Old Trafford last December.

Fellow midfielder Fernandinho believes De Bruyne is not coping too badly with the situation, and he echoed Gundogan's sentiments about the 27-year-old's importance.

Racking up record points, City were irresistible and unbeatable last season with Pep Guardiola finally imprinting his style after an underwhelming first season in charge.

"He's very important - a key player for us, so we hope he is able to return as quick as possible".

Raheem Sterling and Bernardo Silva grabbed the goals at the Emirates Stadium to give the reigning champions the flawless start to the new campaign.

On their victory in north London, Guardiola said: "We made a good performance in general and day by day we will get better and better".

A launch part that was reportedly attended by the likes of Mikel Arteta, Brian Kidd and former Manchester City player Mike Summerbee. They have given me a fantastic squad.

"We are used to getting a lot of camera attention but mostly on the pitch".
