Magnitude 6.6 quake hits North East of Raba, Indonesia - USGS

A magnitude 6.6 offshore quake struck the Indonesian archipelago late on Friday (Aug 17), the US Geological Survey said.

Almost 7800 people were injured and more than 417,000 have been displaced since the August 5 quake, agency spokesman Sutopo Nugroho said.

Nearly 1,000 people remained hospitalized, he was cited as saying by Efe news.

Sutopo urged the country's business community and the rest of society to collaborate in the reconstruction process, expected to last up to two years.
