The new Ciaz comes with a new 1.5 litre K15 petrol engine along with a new generation smart hybrid technology featuring a lithium-ion battery.

The new Maruti Ciaz offers higher safety, thanks to the addition of ESP (petrol-AT-only), Hill Hold Assist (petrol-AT-only), co-passenger SBR (standard) and speed alert system (standard).

The manual variants of the new petrol version are priced between Rs 8.19 lakh and Rs 9.97 lakh while the automatic transmission options are tagged between Rs 9.8 lakh and Rs 10.97 lakh.

"The new Ciaz, powered by K15 smart hybrid gasoline engine, is testament of the same", Ayukawa added. The SHVS will improve the overall fuel efficiency of the sedan. The Maruti Suzuki Ciaz has been given a mid-life makeover and the timing couldn't have been better. The 1.3-litre DDiS diesel is carried forward, at least initially as a replacement is due towards the end of this year.

The facelift Ciaz is much sharper and edgy in terms of design compared to the outgoing model.

The speed alert system is created to beep twice every 60 seconds in case the driver goes past 80 kmph, and in a scenario where the vehicle goes beyond 120 kmph, it will make a continuous beeping noise.

As far as the looks of the new Ciaz are concerned - it gets a new, sleeker grille, along with LED projector auto headlamps with daytime running lights, LED fog lamps, and LED combination tail-lamps. The front lip is also slightly bigger.

On the interiors the Ciaz gets wood grain accents with low gloss finish, satin chrome highlights on dashboard & door trims, new 4.2 inch multi information display and Eco illumination in speedometer which changes color based on the driving pattern. The steering wheel now has dedicated buttons for cruise control. First launched in 2014, the Ciaz has not seen any updates, except minor cosmetic changes, until now. This makes it the most frugal sedan in the country.
