Apple to Release New Cheaper MacBook, Mac Mini 'Pro' Later This Year

Apple to Release New Cheaper MacBook, Mac Mini 'Pro' Later This Year

The MacBook Air that is expected to be updated this year is going to feature a significant upgrade in the display category and not just this, but Apple has a special treat awaiting professionals because a Mini mini refresh is also expected to be announced later this year.

If this is indeed a new MacBook Air, that leaves one remaining question mark in Apple's laptop portfolio: the MacBook, which offers just one USB Type-C port and was last updated in June of previous year. The MacBook Air that you've seen around features a 13.3-inch LED backlit display with a 1,440 x 900 resolution. Apple spokesman Bill Evans declined to comment. The MacBook Air was last updated with a faster processor option last year, but hasn't seen a major overhaul in several years. The superior 12-inch MacBook starts at $1,299 (£1,249, AU$1,899).

Bloomberg says this device "will be geared towards consumers looking for a cheaper Apple computer, but also schools that often buy laptops in bulk".

At first, Cheadle just had his head in his hands, still amazed that Ruffalo let something that big slip. When Kimmel asked if Cheadle knew Ruffalo was going to do that, he put up an emphatic denial.

U-turns leave Malcolm Turnbull on the ropes and facing coup

Today's report notes that the MacBook Mini Pro and MacBook Air 2018 could launch in October, which is typically when Apple reveals its new iPad or computer lineup. If you are an Apple fan, there's a ton of things to be hyped about: three new iPhones, new Apple Watches, new iPad Pros, and now the new Macs.

The company still sells the four-year-old Mac Mini for $499 (£479, AU$749) without a keyboard, mouse, or screen.

But Apple has felt the loss, especially in the education market. Chromebooks, cheaper laptops running Google's Chrome operating system, accounted for 60 per cent of devices shipped to K-12 US education institutions in the final quarter of 2017, according to Futuresource Consulting Ltd. Quanta and Hon Hai Precision will be responsible for manufacturing the upcoming MacBook Air model, but it has not been detailed which partner has been sourced to develop the enclosure of the Mac mini. Apple accounts for about one third of Quanta's revenue, according to analysts. Mac mini has particularly been favoured by users because of its lower price and is most popular with app developers, server farm managers as well as those running home media centers.
