Park has share of clubhouse lead

Park has share of clubhouse lead

Salas started the day with a two-shot lead and was up by one until a bogey at the 17th.

Danielle Kang and Nasa Hataoka sit two back of Park and Salas at 11-under par.

"I was a little tired with right-to-left wind", Park said.

"If I play the way I know I can, I feel like I'll always be at the top (of the leaderboard)".

"I'm very honoured to be ranked No. 1 and I hope to maintain that ranking for a long time", she said through an interpreter after shooting a 3-under 69 for a four-round total of 23-under 265.

Taking the spoils this time was Park Sung-hyun. She's two shots ahead of Park and Amy Yang. And a couple putts could have dropped, but you just got to roll it. "When the other person missed the putt, I felt relieved that I would make it". Salas was chasing her second career victory on the LPGA Tour and first win since 2014.

Lift, clean, and place continued to give a bit of an advantage to the straight shooter, although even Ariya Jutanugarn got a bit of help from the preferred lies conditions.

Saturday's forecast calls for partly cloudy conditions with highs in the low 80s and Sunday is supposed to be mostly sunny with highs in the mid-80s.

After finishing, Park was whisked away to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway's finish line, where she celebrated by kissing the bricks and taking the traditional sip of milk - though she declined to take the milk bath as the event's inaugural victor, Lexi Thompson, did a year ago. The Thai star was tied for 10th, four shots off the lead through two rounds. This year, she has three more sub-par rounds including a course record-tying 62 on Thursday and has been atop the leader board each of the first three days.

"The best round of the year", the South Korean player said through an interpreter. "So I'm just going to go out and play as if I'm behind".

Salas' toughest challenge could still come from Park, who spent most of Saturday flirting with a 54-hole scoring record.

She birdied the last four holes on the front side and made back-to-back birdies on Nos.

After more rain drenched the already saturated layout around the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, Park completed the round by putting out in a downpour that forced the afternoon groups to contend with a delay of almost four hours.

The miscue at No. 16 changed everything.

She never really recovered after dropping two shots, settling for par on the final two holes for a 66 after shooting 68 and 63 the first two days.

"I was a little tired with right-to-left wind", Park said. "This was a completely different golf course, so I had to change my mentality a little bit and I had to forget about the 62 in a way and just go back to what I was doing".
