Heat warning issued for region

The rest of Western New York will be warm with highs in the mid to upper 80s and heat index values up to the low 90s.

Temperatures are expected to drop back to seasonal on Wednesday night. There is also a slight chance of thunderstorms this week, particularly on Tuesday, the weather service said. The public health agency is urging people to limit the time they spend outdoors and avoid strenuous activity in the heat.

Heat warnings are issued when very high temperature or humidity conditions are expected to pose an elevated risk of heat illnesses, such as heat stroke or heat exhaustion. "Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sunshine and check up on relatives and neighbors".
