Andrew Gillum to face Ron DeSantis in Florida governor race

In Florida, DeSantis gave Trump credit for his victory, saying that with one supportive tweet, the president "kind of put me on the map".

That measure is a useful way to assess which party is more excited about a midterm election, and it's particularly useful in Florida because the state limits primaries only to voters registered by party. Bernie Sanders and billionaire philanthropist Tom Steyer. Tallahassee Mayor Andrew Gillum, who would be the state's first black governor, and Republican Rep. Ron DeSantis, both defeated opponents aligned with their parties' establishment.

As Politico Florida wrote, Gillum was the only Democrat during the first debate who didn't blame farmers and the sugar industry in particular for the current algae crisis in the Caloosahatchee and St. Lucie estuaries.

"This is going to be a closely watched race, and it might decide who is in charge of the Senate - Democrats or Republicans", Wagner said.

The Democratic primary for governor was the most crowded since 1978, when, like this year, there were seven candidates on the ballot.

While in Congress, for example, Graham voted for the Keystone XL pipeline and her primary foes have attacked her for not voting often enough with President Barack Obama. Four others in Florida also won Tuesday.

Scott, an independently wealthy businessman, has already spent more than $27 million on the race compared to Nelson's $6 million. That race was shadowed by the death of John McCain, a towering figure who represented Arizona in the Senate for six terms. But I don't think middle of the ground wins any more.

Mourinho is likely to receive even more criticism following the result but dismissed the claims of unrest in the dressing room. After beating Leicester in its opener, United lost to Brighton 3-2 and now has three points after three rounds.

Even as his administration descends ever further into the hell of palace gossip, it is clear that President Trump enjoys very wide support among the Republican base. Across the vast state of Florida, it's important to be on TV to reach voters in the final days of the campaign.

In a statement Tuesday night, Sanders applauded Gillum's "powerful" grassroots campaign, noting that "he's not just working hard to win an election, he has laid out a vision for a new course for the state of Florida and our country".

With support from national groups backing black candidates and progressive politicians, Gillum laid out a campaign strategy relying on "black voters, brown voters, younger voters and poor voters", he told The News Service of Florida in an interview this month. As soon as he formally endorsed DeSantis, Putnam's double-digit polling lead and money advantage evaporated. "This is the Florida that I know, this is the Florida that we all love, and we've dedicated ourselves to serve".

But not Putnam, whose plans to become Florida's next governor have been decades in the making.

In the U.S. Senate, 35 seats are up for election this year, and Florida is one of eight races considered to be a "toss up" by the Cook Political Report.

With decades of experience in public office, he came into the governor's race and quickly out-raised all candidates. "Talking about Donald Trump, and reminding folks of how bad he is and how unqualified he is for the job that he holds, doesn't do anything to assure that they're able to make ends meet, it doesn't do anything to assure they get access to health care, a good education system, and 21st-century transportation, and a clean and good environment". Miami Beach spent $500 million to install the pumps, but some scientists later blamed the pumps for dumping fecal matter into the shores off South Beach.

The political establishment in both parties had a bad night in Florida's high-profile race for governor.
